It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Sister Claudette Guibord, a retired member of UCTE, who passed away February 20, 2019. Sister Guibord had a long history of fighting for the rights of others, both inside and outside of the union.
After being exposed to dangerous chemicals in the workplace which damaged her health, Sister Guibord became a strong advocate for workplace health and safety. Through her work she held Transport Canada accountable for their actions.
Her union career included serving as an executive member of UCTE Local 70703 and being actively involved in various PSAC regional committees. She held the position of UCTE national human rights officer from 2010 until 2014.
Her generous spirit also extended to helping vulnerable people in the community. She was known to collect items for people she knew through her volunteer work with homeless people and other disenfranchised groups. Our thoughts and prayers are with Claudette’s family and friends as they go through this difficult time. For more information about funeral arrangements, please click here.
