Recently, Transport Canada initiated a review of Canadian Port Authorities; its goal was to optimize “their current and future role in the transportation system”.

As a union, it was important for us to convey our members’ concerns. To this end, UCTE partnered with other unions who represent port authority workers and who are also affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress. Together, under the CLC’s name, we presented a position paper reflecting our common issues; the document provides a list of recommendations that unions would like to see implemented.
